Eco warmists trapped in the Antarctic aboard Russian ship. Falmouth receives distress signal.

                Anthony Watts in his blog whatsupwiththat (WUWT) reports in a post on 30 December of the plight of the eco warmists aboard the Russian ship trapped in the Antarctic.  The Australian ship Aurora made an attempt to reach the MVAkademik Shokalskiybut but was driven back into open waters by adverse weather with winds up to 30 knots and snow showers.   An attempt is to be made using a helicopter on board the Chinese vessel Xue Long to rescue the stranded passengers.   The Aurora will then use its barge to transfer all 52 passengers on board their vessel.   The rescue operation started on Christmas morning after the Falmouth Maritime Rescue Centre in the UK received a distress message via satellite from the Russian ship.  This message was then passed to RCC(Rescue Coordination Centre) Australia who is the responsible search and rescue authority for this area. the Australian ship has advised that it would be at risk itself of becoming beset by ice itself if it continues a rescue attempt.

            These foolish eco warmists are abandoning one ship to the ice, tying up two ice breakers, a barge and a helicopter for their escape all because they believed  the sea ice was going away.  Sheer irrational faith indeed as one contributor said it is on a par with that of medieval flagellants purifying the world through their suffering. Warmism is in deed a religion.  This after the Greenpeace deniers got themselves arrested in the Russian Arctic! (deniers of the scientific facts that climate change is natural  and not man made!)

                       The Alfred Wegener Institute reported in October that Antarctica sea ice is at its highest level for 30 years!.  This of course is ignored by the Guardian which instead puts out the nonsense that the expansion of sea ice in the Antarctic is due to the warming earth.  This is totally false and contrary to the scientific evidence. For millions of years the earth temperature has been much higher then today(see older posts on this blog).  At present the earth temperature has been level and is starting to fall not warm.  The contrarians and deniers who write for the Guardian need to get their facts right .

  News flash: Warmists rescued from the Antarctic!      The Australian  of 2 January reports that the eco warmists have been rescued by a helicopter from the Chinese Xue Long and transferred to the Australian ship the Aurora no doubt at great expense.  Far from the ice melting it is the exact opposite, a case of increasing Antarctica ice.  (see image from Josh 13!).  In fact winter sea ice has grown to its largest extent since satellite records began in the late 1970s in contradiction to the IPCC climate models. Data from Nasa`s satellites shows that the winter sea ice cover around Antarctica reached a record 19.l47 million sq km just before Christmas..  This beats last winter`s 19.44 millionsq km, itself a record!.  According to Nasa it is 3.6 percent higher than the average maximum between 1981 and 2010.  Far from global warming it is clear there is global cooling brought about by high winds and ocean currents.  Nothing to do with humans in spite of what the self appointed experts in the BBC and the Guardian may say. Climate News. Coldest temperature ever recorded on earth. Chinese renewable industry collapsing.

                   Aljazeera reports that the American Geophysical Union meeting in San Francisco this month heard that the coldest temperature ever recorded on earth was found to be minus 94.7Celsius.

                 China`s renewable industry is collapsing.  Pat Adams and Brady Yauch report in the Canadian Financial Post of 9th December that China`s renewable industry is collapsing as a result of government central planning economic decisions ignoring the supply and demand of the market.  The solar panel industry has crashed with producers having soaring debt levels and idle factories..  Suntech which was the largest such company in the world has filed for bankruptcy in March. Shares have dropped 98 percent below their peak in 1997.   The Chinese wind turbine industry is also crashing.  Sinovel one of the world`s largest turbine manufacturers has gone from earning hundreds of millions of dollars to millions in loses that grow by the day. In some regions of China 50 percent of all wind turbines remain unconnected to the grid as their power is too expensive to connect them.  The flood of solar panels and wind turbines on the global market caused prices to plummet resulting in negative profit for many of the world`s largest producers.
     NOTE:  The UK renewable industry has taken a big hit with RWE power announcing in December that they no longer intend to develop one of the world`s largest offshore wind turbine arrays 9 miles off the North Devon coast, between Lundy Island and the Gower Peninsular.

Scientists accuse IPCC of fraud in use of Bern Climate Cycle formula

    There has been a new development in the IPCC use of the CO2 response function.   It is used by the IPCC(page34, ARA4 WG1 Technical Summary).

   

  

In this formula which represents the decay of a pulse of CO2 with time t the first constant ao has a value of 0.217.  The point about this IPCC formula is that as the first ao term is a constant the CO2 level will always go up and never down!      This was first raised by Dr Jonathan Drake a UK climate researcher at the Edinburgh meeting with Professor Murry Salby as part of his recent UK tour.  However as Dr Drake and Mr Alker of PSI pointed out all records of atmospheric CO2 concentrations past, proxy or present day observations show that CO2 varies both up and down on any time scale relevant to climate!  So this formula invented by the IPCC allows them to claim wrongly that CO2 will always increase.  How convenient for the apostles of man made climate change!

It was also pointed out by Mr Alkler in the Q&A session that because the models are only dependent upon CO2 to change temperature the ao term means that all the climate models of the IPCC can only produce warming!    Essentially this means that 21.7% of each years human emissions of CO2 according to this IPCC formula NEVER leave the atmosphere leading to an accumulation of human emitted CO2 in the earth atmosphere.  This does not happen in reality in the atmosphere!  If this is not a fraud what is?  The CO2 graphic never reaches zero.  How convenient for the IPCC.

                 Professor Murry Salby demolishes climate alarmism in House of Commons lecture.

         Professor Murry Salby Professor in Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Colorado and one of the world`s top scientists on climate change demolished the climate alarmist position in a lecture in the House of Commons on Wednesday 6 November.  He pointed out in a well reasoned  presentation using real life temperature data that the contribution of humans to climate change is not significant. He pointed out that carbon dioxide(a harmless gas) emissions are  mostly coming from natural sources. He made it clear that the carbon dioxide emissions are a result of temperature changes hundreds of years previously and not the cause of temperature changes.They are mainly coming from the soil and the oceans. His graphic showed the satellite image revealing that emissions are coming from vegetation areas in Africa and other parallel countries with little coming from industrial areas such as western europe and the US. The satellite images are the most accurate as they cannot be interfered with by people. He noted that there has been no global temperature rises for at least sixteen years in spite of increasing carbon dioxide levels.  The lecture was well attended with an audience of at least 100 including some well known members of parliament. The press were well represented. The arrangement of this important lecture was arranged by Rev Philip Foster and Terri Jackson of the climate network.   The climate network are indebted to Graham Stringer MP for the use of the committee room in the House of Commons.

AUSTRALIA will be represented by a diplomat rather than a senior minister at international climate talks in Poland next week aimed at securing an agreement to cut global carbon emissions.

Environment Minister Greg Hunt won't attend annual United Nations climate change talks in Warsaw, saying he'll be busy repealing the carbon tax in the first fortnight of parliament.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop will also not attend. Neither her parliamentary secretary Brett Mason nor Mr Hunt's deputy, Simon Birmingham, have been delegated to attend.

Instead, Australia will be represented by Australia's Climate Change Ambassador Justin Lee, who is based in the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Mr Hunt said through a spokesman that he would be “fully engaged in repealing the carbon tax” while the conference was underway.

The Environment Minister, who'd been expected to attend the talks, yesterday cancelled scheduled briefings on the Warsaw talks with business representatives, lobby groups and foreign diplomats.

Asked about the decision, Mr Hunt's spokesman said the talks were a foreign affairs issue.

Australia's stance at the upcoming meeting was due to be considered by federal cabinet on Monday.

Lobby groups said other nations were anxious to see what role Australia would play in global climate change negotiations under a Coalition government.

Speaking to reporters this morning, Mr Hunt said Australian delegates to the UN climate summit in Poland will seek a “deep, strong international agreement”.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott attacks the climate alarmists.

                          In an interview with News Corp`s Australian newspapers Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has strongly rejected arguments that climate change is causing the wildfires ravaging eastern parts of the country.   He described the link that some attribute as  `complete hogwash`..   Environment Minister Greg Hunt backed the Prime Minister saying no individual event can be linked to climate change. The present extreme temperatures in Australia follow some of the coldest temperatures on record last year when Canberra Airport experienced its lowest temperature on record. This of course is deliberately forgotten by alarmists.  Wildly fluctuating temperatures from one year to another and from one part of the earth to another are a signal of an approaching ice age , not global warming!.  Tony Abbott says that Australia has experienced wildfires for more than 200 years and has suffered worse fires in the past.  He accused Christiana Figures, executive secretary of the UN  Framework Convention on Climate Change of `talking through her hat` when she referred to the Australian wildfires as the world `paying the price of carbon` in the atmosphere.   Mr Abbott said `they are desperate to find anything that they think might pass as ammunition for their cause`  referring to people who link the fires in Australia to global warming.   (Report by Ted Thornhill Daily Mail 27/10/13

Sea Ice Cover in Antarctica highest for 30 years!. Report from Alfred Wegener Institute

                      The German Alfred Wegener Institute reports that sea ice cover in Antarctica is at its highest level for 30 years.(report by P Gosselin 24 October www. notrickszone web site report).  This report has been completely ignored by the UK science media showing again the bias in reporting climate matters.   The mean sea ice cover for September 2013 was 19.48 million square kilometres.   This reached a maximum of 19.65 million square kilometres on 18 September.  Physicists Marcel Nicolaus and Stefan Hendricks of the AWI report this massive increase in Antarctica sea ice, more than at any time in the last 30 years!!   The AWI has conducted experiments with the Polarstern research ice breaker in the Weddell Sea.  A number of automatic measurements stations were placed on the ice.  These are now continuously measuring the thickness, temperature, and movement of the sea ice, as well as its snow cover.  The data is sent by the scientists via satellite to the AWI and other partners.

                           On Tuesday 5 November the former Australian prime minister the right honourable  John Howard will give a lecture under the auspices of the GWPF entitled "One Religion is Enough:   How alarmists have hijacked the climate Debate".   the meeting will take place at the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in Westminster London.
                       While alarmists including the BBC are busy telling everyone of the extreme temperatures in Australia not a word from the BBC or any of them about the 75 000 cattle wiped out recently in South Dakota USA as a result of a violent snow storm with five feet drifts and 60mph winds.

                                    fig 3 shows more than 20 periods of warming in the past 500 years.(Greenland GISP2 ice core, Easterbrook 2011).   Fig 4 shows temperature reconstruction for the northern Hemisphere up to 2000 AD showing the modern warm period is not exceptional! Temperatures of the Medieval Warm Period and Roman Warm Period were higher than recent temperatures!    Fig 5 shows that more than 90 percent of temperatures during the last 10 000 years were significantly warmer than recent warming. ( Cuffy and Clow  1997; Alley 2000).

From the IPCC 2013 Report:  Each of the three decades has been successively warmer at the Earth`s surface than any preceding decade since 1850.  In the Northern Hemisohere 1983-2012 cwas likely the warmists 30 year period of the last 1400 years.     As shown by the figures above from peer reviewed published scientific literature this statement is blatantly false.   nearly all the warming since the end of the Little Ice Age occurred long before CO2 could possibily have been  a causal factor

From the IPCC 2013 climate report:  Over the last two decades the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have been losing mass, glaciers have continued to shrink almost worldwide and Arctic sea ice and Northern Hemisphere spring snow cover have continued to decrease.   This is another lie!   The Antarctic ice sheet has not been losing mass---the East Antarctic ice sheet, which contains about 90 percent of the worlds fresh watetr, is not melting---it is growing!.   The same is true of the Antarctic ice shelf itself.  The only part of Antarctica that may be losing ice is the west Antarctic Peninsula, which contains less than 10 percent of Antarctic ice.  Temperatures at the South pole show no warming since records began in 1997! 

       Some melting occurred in Greenland during the 1978-1998 warming period but that is not at all unusual.

Temperaturesin Greenland were warmer in the 1930s than during the recent warming.   Arctic sea ice EXPANDED by 60 percent in 2013.  Antarctic sea ice has increased by about 1 million Km2 (but the IPCC makes no mention of this!).  The total extent of global sea ice has not diminished in recent decades.

The statement by the IPCC that Northern hemisphere snow cover has continued to decrease in extent is false.  Snow extent in the northern hemisphere shows no decline since 1967 and five of the six snowiest winters have occurred since 2003.

The IPCC Report--------Facts versus Fictions!

      Dr Don J Easterbrook Professor of Geology  Western Washington University USA has neatly summarised the lies and deceit of the recent IPCC Climate Report.   As he says there are "liars, damn liars and statictics"(Mark Twain).  The IPCC report falls into this category.   When compared to the also recently published NIPCC (Non Governmental International Panel on climate Change) 1000 page volume of data on climate change with thousands of peer reviewed references, the inescapable conclusion is that the IPCC report must be considered the grossest misrepresentation of data ever published.  As Professor Richard Lindzen a MIT climate professor said "The latest IPCC report has truly sunk to the level of hilarious incoherence---it is quite amazing to see the contortions the IPCC has to go through in order to keep the international climate agenda going".   The earth has been thawing out from the Little Ice Age for several hundred years but the earth is still not back to pre Little Ice Age temperatures that prevailed for 90 percent of the past 10 000 years.  warming and cooling has been going on for millions of years, long before CO2 could have had anything to do with it, so warming in itself certainly does not prove that it was caused by CO2.  the IPCC misrepresents data with their fig 1 purports to show warming of 0.5C(O.9F) since 1980, yet surface temperatures measurements indicated NO warming over the last 17 years.(Fig2).  satellite temperature data shows the August 13 temperature only O.12C(O.21F) above the 1908 temperature(Spencer 2013).  The IPCC shows a decadal warming of O.6C since 1980 yet the temperature over the last decade has actually cooled not warmed(see Fig 2)

The IPCC report says that warming of the climate system is unequivocal and since the 1950s many of the observed changes are unpresented over decades to millennia.   as Professor Easterbrook says  this is an outright lie!.  A vast published literature exists showing that recent warming is not only not unusual, but more intense warming has occitted many times in the past centuries and millennia.  As a reviewer of the IPCC report, Professor Easterbrook called this to their attention so they cannot have been unaware of it.  For example more than 20 periods of warming in the past five centuries can be found in the Greenland GISP2 ice core data (Easterbrook 2011).   See Fig 3.    Also the Medieval and Roman warm Periods were warmer than recent warming (Fig 4) and about 90 percent of the past 10 000 years were warmer than present(Fig 5)

Arctic covered with a million more square miles of ice than in 2012

                          It is reported that the Arctic is now covered with a million more miles of ice than in 2012 reports the Cornwall Alliance.  The BBC reported in 2007 that global warming would leave the Arctic ice free in the Summer by 2013!  .  An unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe stretching from the Canadian Islands to Russia`s northern shore is now in place.  Apparently some of the alarmist scientists say they do not understand.  They do not understand because they lack the knowledge of the  majority of climate scientists who clearly see this change in the climate is the beginning of a new ice age, due to the declining  solar irradiance and ocean cycles.                                                                

BREAKING NEWS:      The first task of the new Australian prime minister Tony Abbott has been to start to abandon the carbon tax in Australia..  Well done Tony Abbott!

Germany`s Green Energy Policy Creates Insane Cross Border Power Markets

                            The German exit from nuclear power has created an electricity supply gap of daily 8300 megawatts in Germany which has to be filled by increased imports, but at the same time, German electricity exports to neighbouring countries are reaching record highs:  how does this fit together?

       Heavily subsidized electricity from wind and solar sources,which is prioritized at the German electricity exchange in Leipzig, is pushing competing coal and gas down in Germany, so that the latter try to make some prohibits outside Germany.  One third of these exports go to the Netherlands, where gas powered plants are being shut down because they cannot compete with electricity imports from German coal fired plants.   Most of the wind energy generated off the German northern coasts does not go , as was the original idea, to the south of Germany, but to Denmark, exports to which have increased by 480% during the first six months of 2013!    That also has to do with Poland`s understandable refusal to keep its own power grid always open for sudden surpluses from incalculable German wind power.

      At the same time Germany imports up to 8000 megawatts daily from nuclear power plants in France and the Czech Republic, and from an oil powered facility in Austria, but at certain times when renewables surpluses are too big for Germany to consume, they are being exported at dumping prices to France, undermining the nuclear  power sector there!.   The German taxpayer pays for all that insanity with an extra EU25 billion annually.   What a crazy system!    (report from Larouchepac.com).

Changing Arctic ice due to ocean currents, not due to humans

                               A report in the Sunday Telegraph (7 July) by Christopher Booker cites the work of Ken Drinkwater and his team at the Institute of Marine Research in Bergen who have been observing the Arctic for decades.  Drinkwater says that the melting ice is due to changes in ocean currents and he dismisses the idea that the ice is melting because of any rise in global temperatures.  He says that a greater amount of warm water is flowing into the north Atlantic and up to the Barents Sea.   He notes that is just what happened in the 1920s and 1930s when the ice melted even more dramatically than it has done in recent years, before it recovered again during the decades of what is called "the Little Cooling".  The alarmist lobby also ignores the fact that Antarctic sea ice has been expanding so that there is more sea ice globally than the 34 year average.

Southwest US heat wave due to little water vapour

                               Carl Brehmer of Principia Scientific International has given the scientific explanation for the intense heat in the South western US. There is not enough water vapour in the air to keep the temperature down. While the temperature in Little Rock Arkansas was 10 F cooler than its previous record high.  This contrasts with arid Las Vegas.  In the graphic the red line is the temperature profile above Las Vegas at 700m, 6km and 12km in altitude.  The blue line is the temperature profile above Little Rock at the same altitudes measured by daytime weather balloons over four days.  The "mixing ratio"(g/kg of water vapour in the air) was three times greater in Little Rock so it is clear from the graphic that the extra humidity decreased the temperature lapse rate(the rate at which the air warms as one descends in altitude) in the lower atmosphere above Little Rock down to 6.3 C/km while the temperature lapse rate in the lower atmosphere above Las Vegas was 7.9C/km over the same period. Above 6km the air temperature and lapse rates above both locations are virtually identical as the air cools above that altitude at a rate of 8C/km.
        From the graphic one can see that the air temperature at 6km above both Little Rock and Las Vegas is nearly identical at -6C.   So as this -6C air descends into the Nevada climate it warms at a rate of 7.9C/km, while at the same time the air from the same altitude at the same temperature only warms at a rate of 6.3C/km as it descends into Little Rock.  A nearly 9C temperature differential has then emerged by the time the air from 6km in altitude above each location has descended to 700m in altitude.  As the air descends in both locations the work done on the air mass appears as heat.  In the more humid climate a portion of that work energy is diverted to keeping the water vapourized ie it turns into "latent heat" and latent heat does not raise the air temperatur

e.   Standard climatology thus explains why heat waves only occur during times of low humidity as is the current situation in the Southwestern US.   This runs counter to the "greenhouse effect" theory, which asserts that water vapour "traps" heat in the air and therefore the more humid climate should be the warmer climate, but science is not about what might be a popular belief, rather it is about what is seen to happen in the real world.

Chinese Academy of Sciences to publish the Heartland Institute Non governmental panel report on climate change at Beijing press conference

                             In a major development Breitbart News exclusively reports that the Chinese Academy of Sciences have translated the massive two volume report of the  Non Governmental Panel on Climate Change(NIPCC) which was published by the Heartland Institute in Chicago and which is a comprehensive rebuttal of the United Nations IPCC findings which have been the basis for climate legislation worldwide.  Breitbart News reports that the publication will take place at a major event in Beijing on 15 June.

How the whole world was tricked into believing in man made global warming. An analysis by Rev Philip Foster

                               On a day in the summer of 1988 James Hansen (of GISS/NASA), the mentor of Al Gore, gave testimony before a US senate hearing that dangerous global warming was almost certainly being caused by human carbon dioxide emissions.  The hearing had been stage managed by Al Gore.  The day had been deliberately chosen as likely to be the hottest day of the year.   The night before the hearing, all the windows had been opened so that the air conditioning would not work properly.   Thus everyone was sweating as Hansen made his chilling statements.  These dirty tricks were admitted in public on TV in 2007.
 
                          This was a complete reversal of the scientific method-----announcing a conclusion before observational and experimental work had been carried out.!   Nonetheless the AGW(antropogenic global warming) hypothesis was taken by the press and politicians to be a fact.                      

                 To achieve some semblance of plausibility, it became necessary to adjust what "evidence" there was to fit the conclusions.   This was the purpose of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a non scientific but politically motivated body. And it was through the IPCC that scientists in the UK(at the climate research unit(CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and in the USA(GISS/NASA) colluded to generate this "evidence".   The leaked e-mails make it clear that collusion is the correct word.    To achieve an apparently "unprecedented" rise in temperature since 1975 a neat trick was used.

            Global average temperature had been calculated using the raw data from several thousand weather stations round the world.  In order to show an alarming "anomaly" (a nearly one degree rise) they cut the number of weather stations used for raw data by 70-80 percent.    What they then refused to do was to make the details of this selection available to other scientists.  Thus began a long campaign by "the team" (activist scientists from CRU and NASA-----part of the IPCC machine) to prevent this vital disclosure.   Sceptical scientists (no professional scientist can be other than sceptical) were suspicious of the secrecy.   They were reasonably certain that the modern warming was being exaggerated----but without access to the raw data sources they could not test this.   Only after vigorous  efforts using the Freedom of Information Act, which were resisted at every turn by "the team", using every excuse in the book from "losing the data" to "national security" to prevent disclosure, and by the leaking of e-mails, has the truth begun to emerge.  It is a complicated tale of collusion, deliberate fraud and deceit, but the cull of the weather stations crystallizes most clearly how the"trick" was performed.                                      

             The sudden jump in average temperature (of nearly one degree celsius) around 1990 "coincided" with the dramatic cull in the number of weather stations-----because the ones removed were overwhelmingly the ones in the colder regions of the world and in the rural areas(generally cooler than urban areas).  So should we still worry?   Is the science still "robust" as politicians and activists  continue to say?  The answer is no and no.   The "science" is bust not robust.

Principia Scientific International unveils a new leadership team.

                                 Principia Scientific International(PSI)  http://principia-scientific.org has just revealed a new leadership team with Imperial College`s John Sanderson the immediate past president of the Royal College of Sciences Association as the new PSI Chairman.  John is a physicist by training and an experienced and skilled administrator.  John will focus on extending PSI`s reach, not only further into academia, but also  where a truly independent voice on scientific issues needs to be heard.  John takes over from Professor Timothy Ball former Professor of Climatology at the University of Winnipeg who guided PSI through its first two formative years.  
                                 With PSI`s growing worldwide membership two new vice chair positions have been created to cope with the demands.  Serving as vice chair (North) will be Dr Pierre Latour, an internationally respected Chemical Engineer of few peers.  Dr Latour`s alma mater, Purdue University`s School of Chemical Engineering has honoured him with their Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award.  Pierre has published 68 papers and was Control magazine`s Engineer of the Year.  He assumes responsibility for guiding PSI in North America and Europe.   The second vice chair is John N. W. Elliston a chemical geologist by training who will be serving as Vice Chair(South) where he will have an open brief to expand PSI`s network of business and academic contacts throughout Australasia.  He has prepared 103 scientific papers and reports and is holder of the Order of Australia for his services to the Australian mining industry.

A Spectacular Miscalculation! Estimates of the Earth`s Warming totally false!

The above graphic discussed on the Global Warming Policy Foundation(Dr Whitehouse) site and also published in the Washington Times this week clearly shows that the global earth temperature has been standing still for at least 16 years and is now starting to fall.!.  This has been ignored by the pro government media, some alarmist climate scientists "rent seeking scientists as Lord Monckton has often referred to them"  scientific institutions and others.   The global temperature is radically changing in a downward direction in full agreement with the changing total solar irradiance as predicted by Dr Abdussamatov of the Polkovo Observatory in St Petersburg,  the world`s leading solar physicist.  The  climate models used by the alarmists are shown to be completely wrong. There is a message here for the likes of Dr Beddington the UK government retiring chief scientist.  It is not carbon dioxide that is changing the climate  Dr Beddington,   it is a natural change as a result of the changing sun.  Rather than the global warming of the alarmists we are heading for a new Little Ice Age. (skating on the Thames again!)

                Dr H Abdussamatov   Director of Space Physics at the Polkovo Observatory St Petersburg and Russian Director of the International Space Station gives clear evidence of the rapidly declining short range 11 year solar cycle and the longer range bicennential component of the Total Solar Irradiance(TSI).   This decline is not compensated by a decrease to space of the earth thermal energy.  This will  lead inexorably to the start of a new Little Ice Age.    This decline will last well into the 22nd century.  There will be no more global warming this century.

Dr Habibullo Abdussamatov Director of Polkovo Observatory St Petersburg predicts an approaching ice age.

                     Over the last 1000 years five deep weakest(coldest) periods on the earth occurred around years 1030, 1315, 1500, 1680, 1805 which fell in respectively the Oort,Wolf, Sporer, Maunder and Dalton minimums of the sun.   These five episodes are separated by approximately 200(+/- 70) year spans. At present it is generally accepted that the quasi bicentennial cycle of the sun is one of the most intense solar cycles.

Asteroid Could End Humanity!

                                         After the recent close encounter between our earth and an asteroid  Andrei Kokoshin a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in an interview this week with Itar-Tass in Moscow said "should a large celestial body hit the earth, the effects will be far more devastating, particularly so, if that happens in a large city.  In certain cases , as many scientists have been warning ,the fall of an asteroid would spell the end of humanity"   Kokoshin is also Dean of the Moscow state University Department of International Politics and deputy chair of the State Duma`s committee on science and technology.   He said that the time is ripe for this to become an international political issue. Dmitri Rogozin the Russian deputy Prime Minister has called for Russian-US immediate co-operation in the defence of earth.  Money needs to be spent to find ways by which a rogue asteroid could be deflected from its impact path with the earth.  There are thousands of asteroids out there in space and which we do not know their trajectories.  Far better to spend money on this than wasting it on climate change measures against so called man made global warming which is actually not happening!

New paper proves that the Roman warming and Medieval warming were warmer than today.

                             A new scientific paper by Jan Esper et al published in Global Planetary Change 88-89 (2012) 1-9 has used 587 high resolution wood density profiles from living and sub fossil Pinus sylvestris (scots pine) trees in northern Sweden and Finland to form a long term maximum latewood density(MXD) record stretching 138 BC to 2006 AD.   They note that their new temperature history "provides evidence for substantial warmth during Roman and Medieval times, larger in extent and longer in duration than 20th century warmth".. They note that as the irrefutable empirical research mounts, it is becoming untenable for politicians, regulating bureaucrats and taxpayer funded scientists to maintain the falsehood that modern global warming has been unprecented. Peer Reviewed survey finds Majority of Scientists Skeptical of Global Warming

                              A peer reviewed study of 1077 scientists published  in Organization Studies and reported in Forbes magazine( www.forbes.com) by James Taylor ( 13 February 2013) has found that the majority of these scientists believe that nature is the primary cause of recent global warming.  Only 36 percent of these geoscientists and engineers believe that humans are creating a global warming crisis. Also two recent surveys of meteorologists revealed similar skepticism of alarmist global warming claims. Indeed leading American meteorologist Tim Kelley of WLNE  TV in Providence Rhode Island said that the big storm Sandy that hit New York recently was not unprecedented.  He said the 1938 hurricane was worse and was followed by major hurricanes in 1944 and 1954, three large hurricanes in 16 years.  He went on to say that increasing evidence from around the world shows that the main driver of terrestrial climate is the sun.   He said that the data shows no correlation at all between antropogenic CO2 emissions and climate change. An interesting aspect of the Organization Studies survey is the unmistakably biased alarmist bent of the survey takers who in their ignorance  frequently used terms such as "deniers"

Impact of the sun dominates our climate.

                               More evidence from Nasa, from Astrophysicist Piers Corbyn, from Dr H Abdussamatov that it is the sun that is the dominant player in the global climate. The new Nasa paper recently published titled "The Effects of Solar Variability on Earth`s Climate" is most revealing.  One ofthe authors Dr Greg Koop of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado, overturned mainstream climate science thinking by declaring that even slight changes in solar output have a considerable impact on climate. Kopp said " even typical short term variations of 0.1% in incident irradiance exceed all other energy sourcescombined".  This massive change by Nasa shows that a paradigm shift is now in full swing and the discredited claims of man made global warming alarmists are being tossed aside at the highest levels of government.
                        London`s own Astrophysicist Piers Corbyn of WeatherAction.com and Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society has challenged Professor Joanna Haigh  to
 1.  Produce observational evidence with real observed data(or accepted proxies thereof) from the last hundreds, thousands or million years that CO2 changes in the real atmosphere drive world temperature changes.(No answer from Professor Haigh as the simple truth is they don`t!)  
 2. Produce observational evidence and physics based argument that refute our knowledge that the 22 year cycle of variation in world temperatures is driven by the 22 year magnetic Hale cycle of the sun.

           Top Russian solar physicist Dr H Abdussamatov Director of Space Research at the Polkovo Observatorey St Petersburg and Director of the Russian segment of the International Space Station agrees with both the new Nasa paper and with Piers Corbyn.   In his classic paper
        "Bicentennial decrease of the TSI leading to unbalanced thermal budget of the earth and the Little Ice Age" Abdussamatov predicts that due to the declining bicentennial component of the total solar irradiance(TSI) and the decline of the 11 year solar cycle(which are not being compensated by a decrease in the emission to space of the earth thermal energy) the earth is quickly heading into a new Little Ice Age due to start 2013/2014 and lasting well into the 22nd century!   No more global warming this century!!

Hansen backtracks as hundreds die of cold

                          NASA scientists James Hansen in a paper published this week wrote:   "The 5 year mean global temperature has been flat for a decade, which we interpret as a combination of natural variability and a slowdown in the growth rate of the net climate forcing".  While we agree with the first part of this statement the net climate forcing it should be stressed is due to latent heat in the atmosphere as a result of evaporation and certainly not due to human carbon dioxide.  His words confirm nature,not mankind, played the decisive role in directing global temperatures over the last ten years.  The anecdotal evidence has certainly not been friendly to climate hysteria. While southern England and Wales are covered in snow,  Los Angeles has been shivering under a cold snap and the National Weather Service in the US issued a snow warning for the Washington area on Thursday of this week.   Recently at least 80 died of the cold in Bangledesh   Also over 600 dead due to the intense cold of minus fifty in Russia and eastern Europe over the last six months. I dont remember reading about this in the Guardian or the Daily Telegraph.

NASA U-Turn admits Global Warming Bias on Sun`s Key Role

                                     Principia-Scientific International(PSI) (report by John O`Sullivan) reveals that a new Nasa study titled "The effects of Solar Variability on Earth`s Climate" has revealed that even slight changes in solar output has a considerable impact on climate. One of the authors Dr Greg Kopp of the Laboratory of Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado conceded "even typical short term variations of 0.1 percent in incident solar  irradiance exceeds all other energy sources combined".  A full report by Dr T Phillips is available from the National Academies Press.    It reports that the NASA management was barred from stopping NASA Goddard Institute climate activist James Hansen from promoting a political agenda on climate. As O`Sullivan says there is indeed a paradigm shift in full swing and the discredited claims of man made global warming alarmists are being tossed aside at the highest level of government.  
                 Dr Tim Ball chair of PSI who was Professor of Climatology at the University of Winnipeg for thirty years  has been the driving force behind the worldwide team of over 200 experts from various scientific fields to address the climate issue.The NASA report notes that "understanding the sun-climate connection requires a breadth of expertise in fields such as plasma physics, solar activity, atmospheric chemistry and fluid dynamics, energetic particle physics, and even terrestrial history.  No single researcher has the full range of knowledge required to solve the problem"
               Dr Ball says that finally NASA seems to have broken free of the "settled science" that the IPCC imposed.  Climate science was effectively frozen for thirty years and NASA are now getting back to where they were in the 1970`s"  Dr Ball now believes that this latest NASA publication marks the breaking of the control Hansen had over climate research at the US space agency.  Ball notes that "I understand that upper management were advised by much higher authority not to touch Hansen."  He says that the evidence is stacking up proving that Hansen was "out of control" and what he has been doing publicly and politically should have been censured, even prosecuted under the Hatch Act".  
               Clearly this together with the down grading of future global warming by  the UK Met Office in their Christmas Eve announcement and the admission by the IPCC  of the role of the sun, the case of the alarmists is disintegrating by the day.  Some alarmist writers in the UK Guardian and the Daily Telegraph have been shown up that their  views on man made climate change are in fact junk science.   It is the sun, gravity and the hydrological cycle based on water vapour and latent heat that are the drivers of climate change.  Carbon dioxide has no heat trapping powers.    The increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is coming from de-gassing from the oceans as a result of temperature changes hundreds of years previously.  The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere as a result of human activity is less than 0.036 percent of the atmosphere--insignificant.
