Leading environmentalist Professor James Lovelock says he was alarmist about climate change and so was Gore!

In an interview with with  Professor James Lovelock the originator of the "Gaia" theory of the earth says he was alarmist about climate change and so was Gore!  He says "the problem is we don`t know what the climate is doing.  We thought we knew 20 years ago. Twelve years(from 2000) is a reasonable time, the temperature has stayed almost constant whereas it should have been rising---carbon dioxide is rising no question about that".    He went on to say he did not mind saying "I made a mistake".  He claimed a university or government scientist might fear an admission of a mistake would lead to the loss of funding.   He pointed to Al Gore`s "An inconvenient truth" ( in reality an untruth!) and Tim Flannery`s " the weather makers" as other examples of alarmist forecasts of the future.

Shale Gas Expansion

A report from the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change(DECC) says that hydraulic fracking to reach gas trapped in shale rocks could safely resume in the UK. With the development of shale gas the world will never be the same again.  The potential is massive..  Thanks to new found deposits of shale gas the US overtook Russia in 2010 as the world`s largest gas producer.  Already the price of natural gas has fallen to only $2 as of April 2012, the lowest price in a decade.  Could ground water be contaminated by this process as some would fear?    Durham University in the UK together with Cardiff University and the University of Tromso in Norway have produced a report which said "the liklihood of contamination of drinking water in aquifers due to fractures when there is a separation of more than a kilometre is negligible because there is no path for fracking water to reach ground water".   Richard Davies Director of Durham`s Energy Institute said "geological conditions are optimal at 2-3km depth".   Davies says that as long as the depth is in excess of 0.6km there is little risk. In Poland drilling has been 3-4 km below the water table..  In the Lancashire fracking site in the UK the major shale gas resources has led to fracking being more than 1800 metres below the water asquifers.  The small tremors that were felt in this area recently were no greater than tremors often felt with coal mining and are insignificant.  Also the case reported in the US of a gas tap being lit was nothing to do with fracking but due to the gas passing through coal deposits near the surface. US Businessman Donald Trump attacks wind farms and man made climate change in appearance at Scottish parliament in Edinburght

In a dramatic appearance before a committee of the Scottish Parliament in the past week US businessman Donald Trump said that wind farms will destroy tourism.   He is in opposition to a wind farm development off the Aberdeen coast where he is soon to open a new golf course.  He said that climate change is not mad made and and renewable targets are "phoney".  He has got the ire of the political fanatics and their media allies who support the climate hoax.    Regarding off shore wind farms a judge in the US recently upheld objectors to such a development on the grounds it could be a hazard to aircraft flying by sight, in addition to submarines and other ships.
As well as the hazards to aircraft and shipping caused by off shore wind farms the climate zealots supporting the hoax are also keen to push for carbon dioxide storage in off shore undersea caverns. Rev Philip Foster in the UK has also outlined what he calls the bone headed stupidity  of burying carbon dioxide( a gas essential for life!) promoted by the BBC.  Foster says

" carbon dioxide is a colourless, odourless, non poisonous and relatively dense gas.  It is quite different from carbon monoxide  which is highly toxic.  Why bury essential food?  It is like burning wheat in front of starving people.  All plants are currently existing on starvation rations of CO2, as levels are the lowest they have been for 300 million years.   Pumping CO2 into old oil and gas wells out at sea is utter madness.  Although it is a relatively heavy gas it will leak out-explosively!    The result will be catastrophic for shipping anywhere in the area.  Ships lose boyancy in water filled with gas bubbles and sink like stones. This activity also contravenes international laws about dumping waste at sea.   Since the eco-fascists believe that CO2 is a pollutant they are hoist on their own petard"   Well said Rev Foster.

Reminder:  an excellent recent book is "The Greatest Hoax" by US Senator James Inhofe published by WND Books Washington DC  with endorsements by Honorable Vaclav Klaus President of the Czech Republic, Joe Bast President of the Heartland Institute,  Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT and Dr Harrison Schmitt  former US Senator, geologist and Apollo 17 astronaught.  An outstanding exposure of the climate hoax.

Piers Corbyn London`s leading climate astrophysicist dismembers latest Nature and BBC"CO2 drives climate" claim as Dishonest, Delusional and Dangerous. ure and BBC

Piers Corbyn reports that the warmist climate deniers have been desperately trying for a decade to "hide the rise" in observed ocean and Antarctic temperatures which precedes the rise in world CO2 levels at the end of ice ages.(see  He says that the Antarctic temperatures are a measure of the temperature of the surrounding largest water mass in the world--the southern ocean and the south halves of the Pacific , Indian and Atlantic Oceans.  When this warms CO2 is slowly released with a delay of about 800 years..  General southern and equatorial ocean and land warming continues and the Arctic (Greenland) warms up rapidly later.  By lumping the north and south hemispheres the authors of the Nature paper (Shakun et al) conceal the physical sequence of events using a trick to "hide the rise" of the southern ocean.  Their silly wrong assumption is that the whole of the Antarctic and Southern oceans warm up in response to increases in CO2 which has yet to take place 800 years in the future!. There is much less sea in the northern hemisphere to emit or absorb CO2.  The Arctic(Greenland) and Antarctic O18 time series are exactly in phase during cooling but when warming it is only the Arctic (Greenland) which has abrupt warming. (see paper by Steig and Alley).   Shakun et al is total make believe science! (regarding warming at present the earth is cooling with no global warming for fifteen years,  even Dr Jones of the UEA has admitted as much!).  The Arctic warms up after the Antarctic!
(see Phase relationships between Antarctic and Greenland climate records by E J Steig and RB Alley Annals of glaciology 35  2002).  This shows that the Antarctic warms first releasing CO2 slowly from the oceans followed by the Arctic(Greenland))

China slows solar, wind expansion, instead goes for nuclear and shale gas ----New report

A report in the Daily Caller of 14 April 2012 gives details of an announcement by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao that the china economy would stop expanding its wind and solar industries, choosing instead to focus on nuclear, hydroelectric and shale fracking as the energies of the future.  Currently the Chinese government has 14 nuclear power plants, with 25 more under construction.  China has also plans to build more dams to facilitate further development of hydroelectric power.

NEWS---New climate movement formed, Heartland Institute conference, Celebration of 80th anniversary of splitting the atom

             News items:
A new worldwide climate group has been formed called Principia Scientific International (PSI) which goes back to the Scientific method of observation and verifiable evidence and which rejects the existence of the so called greenhouse effect. The web site is  where more information can be found.  Its first chair is Professor Timothy Ball former Professor of Climatology at the University of Winnipeg and its latest recruit is Professor Ian Plimer Professor of Geology at the University of Adelaide.
The Heartland Institute in Chicago is holding its 7th International climate conference in late May.
Further details from the web site

An event to mark the 80th anniversary of the splitting of the atom at Cambridge in 1932 will be held at the University of Dublin on Friday 13 April 2012 detailing the work of both Professor Ernest Walton and Professor John Cockcroft and their  momentous work which led to the award of the Nobel Prize.

Fifty former top NASA scientists engineers and astronauts attack NASA policy on climate

Fifty former top NASA scientists, engineers and astronauts have attacked the present NASA climate policy in a strongly worded letter to the NASA administrator in Washington:
"we believe the claims by NASA and GISS (Goddard Institute for Space Studies) that man made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data.  With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicily declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled. As former NASA employees,we feel that NASA`s advocacy of an extreme position , prior to a thorough study of the possible overwhelming impact of natural climate drivers is inappropriate.   We request that NASA refrain from including unproven and unsupported remarks in its future releases and websites on this subject.  At risk is damage to the exemplary reputation of NASA, NASA`s current or former scientists and employees, and the reputation of science itself.

( the letter was signed by among others, the former Director of the Johnson Space Center  Gerald C Griffin, the former Deputy Director of the Space Shuttle Programme  Leroy Day, the former Apollo flight director Dr C Kraft,  former Apollo astronauts Charles Duke (Apollo 16), Dr Harrison Schmitt(Apollo 17), Al Worden (Apollo 15), Walter Cunningham (Apollo 17)).

Russian Professor of Natural Sciences says continued global warming is a myth!

Geologist Professor Nikolai Dobretsov President of the Natural Sciences Divisionof the Russian Academy of Sciences says that the cycles of waxing and waning of ice in the Arctic shows that continued global warming is a myth and the current climate cycles will follow a period of global cooling to the end of this century.  He has noted that recent  studies have observed alternating cycles of growth and decline in Arctic ice mass. He said that "the ice minimum was recorded in 2007. Between 2008 and 2011 and it seems in 2012 the ice has grown back.  The winters in the Arctic are getting colder.  Continued global warming is a myth".  He stressed that in order to clarify the situation it is necessary to develop a complex network of observing stations in the Arctic region.  (reports in Voice of Russia  26 March 2012 and see also Milenio 7 April 2012)
