Scientific paper in Science Journal has revealed that summer Arctic sea ice extent during the holocene Thermal Maximum 8000 years ago was less than half of the `record low 2007 level`. The paper found a general build up of sea ice from about 6000 years before the present which reached a maximum during the Little Ice Age(which ended around 1850) and attained its present extent at 4000 years before the present.
